Essex Aviation Assists Client with Off-Market Sale of GV After Word Spreads of G650 Acquisition

Essex Aviation Group Inc. has recently assisted a New York based client with the sale of their Gulfstream V (GV) aircraft. While Essex Aviation is not a brokerage firm, and typically specializes in providing aircraft acquisition consulting services, managing the sale of the GV represented a unique situation.

While Essex was working with their client on the acquisition of a G650, it became known within the industry — and by the representative of an off-market GV buyer who reached out to Essex — that Essex’s client would be selling their existing GV upon securing the G650.  After consulting with the client’s family office, Essex was retained to manage the sale process of the aircraft to this specific off-market buyer. Essex agreed to manage the sale with the understanding that if the transaction was not successfully completed, the aircraft would then be publicly listed for sale by one of several candidate aircraft brokers whom Essex had previously identified and recommended to their client.

Essex represented the client with the following services:

  • Negotiating the aircraft purchase agreement
  • Providing on-site management and support during the pre-purchase inspection
  • Managing, together with legal counsel, the final delivery and transfer of ownership title of the aircraft

It is important to recognize the unique arrangement under which Essex was engaged by their existing client to represent them in this transaction, and note that Essex does not list aircraft for sale or act in the capacity of a broker.

Essex has only represented existing client’s in the sale of an aircraft when it is an “off-market” transaction in which the two parties have either directly contacted each other or industry contacts have facilitated the interest between the parties, and Essex’s client requests that Essex manage the off-market sale of the aircraft.

Essex Aviation Group Completes Acquisition of 2004 Dassault Falcon 2000EX

Essex Aviation Group, Inc. is pleased to announce they have successfully completed the acquisition of a pre-owned 2004 Dassault Falcon 2000EX for a private client in Florida.

As a first-time buyer, the client had previously chartered various Falcon aircraft and wished to acquire a 2000EX  for their future personal travel needs.

Essex was retained by the client’s wealth manager to advise, represent and manage the  complete acquisition process, which included:

  • Negotiating the aircraft purchase agreement
  • Drafting the pre-purchase inspection scope of work
  • Recommending the inspection facility (Duncan Aviation; Battle Creek, Mich.)
  • Providing on-site management and support during the pre-purchase inspection
  • Managing, alongside legal counsel, the final acceptance, delivery and transfer of title of the aircraft.

Essex Aviation Acquires Gulfstream G650 for New York based Client

Essex Aviation Group, Inc. is pleased to announce they have successfully completed the acquisition of a pre-owned Gulfstream G650 for a private client in New York.  Gulfstream G650 -4Essex was retained by the client’s recently formed family office to provide on-going consultation services as well as for the acquisition of the G650 aircraft. Essex advised the client based on their desire to support their projected business and personal travel needs.  The process began by identifying the most favorable candidate aircraft model that would meet both objectives. Essex worked diligently, vetting various Gulfstream G650 aircraft that were both publicly and privately for sale, ultimately acquiring a 2014 Gulfstream G650 from a public corporation. Essex advised and managed the negotiations on behalf of their client throughout the complete acquisition process. Essex also accompanied the aircraft during the pre-purchase inspection providing on-site technical representation.

Essex Aviation Group Completes Acquisition of New Global 6000

Essex Aviation Group is pleased to announce that it has just completed a successful acquisition and management of the final delivery of a new 2017 Global 6000 to one of their New York City based clients.

Essex initially compiled a list of pre-owned on and off-market aircraft options and also worked with Bombardier to evaluate any new aircraft or “white tail” options available that offered agreeable floor plans and equipment.  Along with the negotiations of the Aircraft Purchase Agreement with Bombardier, Essex provided on-site representation while certain upgrades were completed at Bombardier’s Dallas Service Center and Global Completion Center facility in Montreal, Canada.

Essex also provided on-site representation throughout the entire final inspection and delivery of the aircraft while working in conjunction with the selected management company to prepare the aircraft for an immediate entry into service.

Essex also supported the client with facilitating the review of various management company candidates and assisted the client during the final negotiations and contracting with the selected management company and an associated hangar arrangement at Teterboro Airport.

Essex Aviation Group, Inc. is pleased to announce they have successfully completed the acquisition of a Hawker 800XP for a private client in Virginia. Essex advised the client based on their desire to botHawker 800 Jet Aircraft interior cabin, cockpit, seats, lavatory and galley and exteriors by Randy Smith Photoh charter the aircraft and satisfy business and personal travel needs.  The process began by identifying the most favorable candidate aircraft model that would meet both objectives. Essex worked diligently vetting various Hawker 800XP aircraft that were both publicly and privately for sale. Essex advised and managed the negotiations on behalf of their client throughout the complete acquisition process. Essex also accompanied the aircraft during the pre-purchase inspection providing on-site technical representation. The aircraft was delivered to their client early 2017.

 

Essex Delivers Recently Refurbished Global Express XRS to Client

Essex Aviation Group is pleased to announce they have delivered a newly refurbished Global Express XRS to their client. Essex began the process by identifying candidate anew-paint-072116ircraft, then acquiring the Global Express XRS in December 2015.  Essex accompanied the aircraft providing on-site representation during the pre-purchase inspection which was completed in Europe.  Additionally, Essex managed the exportation of the aircraft out of Europe and the aircraft registration transition from the prior European registration onto the current United States registration.

Once the acquisition was completed, Essex worked with the new owner to identify, review and select a service provider for a highly customized aircraft modification and refurbishment. Essex coordinated the refurbishment project between the service provider and owner, advising the owner throughout the process, including on-site representation.  The extensive refurbishment project included an entirely new interior design, upgraded cabin management system, galley modifications, avionic upgrades and new exterior paint.

The Global XRS has recently entered service and is successfully in full operation under the guidance of an aircraft management company.  Essex facilitated the process for the owner to review and meet with several candidate management companies and represented the client during the final contracting with the selected provider.  As is often required by a first time owner of an aircraft, Essex was able to align the necessary industry proven experts in order for their client to truly experience a fully complete, turn-key acquisition.

Essex Successfully Acquires Global Express XRS

Essex Aviation is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of a Global Express XRS. Essex identified and presented multiple on and off-market candidate aircraft and advised the client throughout the acquisition process. Since the aircraft selected by the client was European registered, Essex also managed the aircraft’s European export and de-registration, along with the import and new United States registration process.

Essex also facilitated and provided on-site representation of an extensive pre-purchase inspection which was completed at Jet Aviation Basel, Switzerland. With the acquisition phase complete, Essex will continue to assist and represent the new owner during a planned extensive interior refurbishment that will include exterior paint, avionics upgrades and maintenance needs.

Essex also worked with their client to identify, review and ultimately select a service provider for the aircraft refurbishment, in addition to the selection of an aircraft management company for the on-going operation of the aircraft. Essex’s continued involvement during post-acquisition activities is indicative of their experience, knowledge and dedication to client relationships, as well as their ability to support a variety of critical transaction services from the initial aircraft acquisition through a wide range of post-closing activities prior to the aircraft entering service.

Essex Aviation Group Proud To Manage Aircraft Acquistion That Helps Save Lives

Citation CJ3 acquired on behalf of New England Organ Bank

Essex Aviation Group, Inc. (Essex) recently completed a successful aircraft acquisition for New England Organ Bank (NEOB), the oldest independent organ procurement organization in the country. Essex provided pre-acquisition counsel in order to select the most efficient means to meet NEOB’s on-demand transportation needs, and then successfully managed the entire aircraft acquisition process. In the end, a Citation CJ3 was leased by NEOB.

NEOB serves 12 transplant centers in the region with the combined capacity to perform all types of organ transplants. Through their nine regional offices, NEOB provides clinical support to evaluate and surgically recover organs and tissue for transplantation and research. NEOB provides information, support and resources to donor next of kin and works to educate the general public on the importance of registering as donors through the driver’s license process.

“This was a unique project for us, we had to consider many different factors that don’t usually come up during a typical acquisition,” said Lee Rohde, President & CEO of Essex. “NEOB required an aircraft that could be ready for travel at a very short notice, could provide speed and range but also efficiently satisfy many shorter leg flights and smaller airport destinations, as well as offer a cabin size that can accommodate variable numbers of passengers and equipment. The CJ3 they selected will meet all of their needs.”

Essex was able to identify an aircraft that satisfied the mission and budget through a process of listening and focusing on the preferences and requirements of the NEOB, using industry knowledge of aircraft specifications and leveraging their ability to negotiate within the market.

“The task of organizing an organ transport process that meets critical timeframes had been made possible for several decades through the use of business aircraft, specifically through various on-demand, third party charter aircraft utilizing various service providers,” said Christopher Curran, Director of Organ Operations and Surgical Recovery at NEOB.

“When it became clear that utilizing a dedicated aircraft might be a logical alternative, we called Lee Rohde and Tom Mitchell at Essex Aviation Group to work with us. Essex streamlined the whole process by listening to our needs, giving us advice and walking us step-by-step through the acquisition. Without Essex, we would likely still be searching for an aircraft instead of already being fully operational,” Curran concluded.

Essex Aviation Group, Inc., recently completed another successful project, representing their client through the process of obtaining helicopter and aircraft transportation services. The client is a Northeast-based high net worth family office who was introduced to Essex by another advisory firm the family office utilizes.

From the beginning of the selection process, Essex assisted the client by identifying and evaluating various operators capable of satisfying the family’s unique helicopter transportation requirements. The process included identifying and evaluating several alternative program structures provided by multiple helicopter operators in order to select which provider would align with their defined transportation needs most effectively, efficiently and favorably.

In the end, Essex successfully represented the client in the negotiations and final agreement with Associated Air Group (AAG). For more than 20 years, AAG has been providing executive travel for, helicopter and fixed wing charter flights, as well as fractional ownership programs, aircraft management and helicopter maintenance services at their Teterboro, NJ, Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Providence, R.I.., and Philadelphia.
