As desirable an asset as they may be, marketing and selling private aircraft is often easier said than done, especially for individual owners. From ensuring your aircraft is ideally positioned and seen by the right people to negotiating sale pricing and terms — often with multiple rounds of offers and counteroffers — the private aviation market and overall sales process can be complex. In times like these, having expert support isn’t just convenient — it’s essential.
Each of Essex Aviation’s IADA -accredited consultants brings at least 25 years of industry experience to every private jet sales and marketing engagement, enabling our clients to navigate the sales process with confidence.
It’s a common misconception that private aviation consultants and private jet brokers are one in the same, but this isn’t the case. While brokers can play an important role in private jet sales and marketing — completing deals in a timely manner and ensuring that sellers are satisfied with the outcome — they tend to offer a limited range of services and prioritize volume of sales over holistic, white-glove service.
By comparison, the consultants at Essex Aviation aren’t focused on a single transaction — we’re looking at the bigger picture. This involves working closely with you through every stage of the sales process to understand your needs and expectations, manage complexity, find a suitable buyer and secure a fair price for your aircraft. We work with a select few clients at a time, so you can trust that you’re always our top priority. We also offer a broad range of services, including new and pre-owned aircraft acquisition, which means that once your sale is complete, you can easily transition to your new aircraft.
We’ll begin our engagement by creating a spec sheet for your aircraft, which highlights key features and specifications, before preparing your official listing. We’ll also:
Working closely with your flight department, we’ll organize and prepare all necessary records and documentation for presentation to potential buyers, ensuring everything is in order for a smooth sales process.
We’ll consult with you to determine if there are any repairs or enhancements to your aircraft that you may want to consider to enhance its marketability. Once we’ve determined what enhancements need to be made, we’ll work with your flight department to explore options for necessary work and identify suitable service providers.
We’ll first list your aircraft through IADA’s listing exchange website, AircraftExchange, before bringing it to the broader market. In addition to developing marketing materials, we’ll leverage our direct connections to ensure your listing is seen by qualified buyers.
We’ll field all inquiries from interested parties, carefully vetting buyers to ensure that any offers you receive are legitimate. Should you receive multiple viable offers, we’ll work with your aviation legal counsel to evaluate those offers based on price, level of pre-purchase inspection, terms and conditions, delivery conditions, rights to reject and more to ensure the best possible outcome for you.
Once you’re received an acceptable offer to purchase and it is agreed to by all parties, we’ll an on-site visual inspection by the purchaser’s representatives to inspect the aircraft and its records.
Following the on-site visual inspection, we will work with your aviation legal counsel to negotiate the aircraft purchase agreement, outlining the final terms and conditions that will govern the transaction.
We will work your existing flight department to support the pre-purchase inspection. We assist with the review of squawks and approvals and conduct the final review of the pre-purchase inspection report. Following the delivery of the pre-purchase inspection report, we will work with the purchaser to finalize the technical acceptance of the aircraft.
Once the aircraft is returned to service and all the squawks identified in the technical acceptance have been cleared, we will work with the purchaser to finalize the closing. We will coordinate with all the necessary parties to prepare for and complete the final closing and transfer of title.
